THE SISTERS HAYES, (Christina, Esther and Rebecca) are a trio of sibling artists living and working in Melbourne. With collective skills in painting, costume and set design, animation, film & photography the familial group make diverse collaborative works.
Currently in development is a new collaboration with Paul Hodges, upcoming workshops with Rawcus, and "A Tar Paper Shack"- a multifaceted project exploring their North American heritage.
The Sisters Hayes past work includes: a moving image commission for ACMI (Profile Me, 2013), curating The Great Un Reveal (a collaboration with Arts Project Australia, 2012), solo exhibition Big Sky Country (Rae & Bennett Gallery), set and costume design for Blood Wedding (Malthouse Theatre, 2012), production design for the Carnival of Mysteries (2010 Melbourne International Arts Festival), and 'A Good Death', a dark and decorative multi-faceted exhibition for the 2010 Next Wave Festival.
The Sisters Hayes strive to make work that is narrative driven, handcrafted, theatrical and materially beautiful. Working communally to conceive, research and present ideas, The Sisters craft and stitch together shared stories.
